About

About this desk

PestFactor is an independent guide and operator directory for Northwest Pennsylvania, written from Erie. Its concept — named, so it can be held to it — is The Field Desk: a naturalist's field journal crossed with a working service desk. Pests are identified the way a field naturalist identifies them, from marks, look-alikes, habitat, and season; and the desk keeps the practical files a householder actually needs — a calendar, a methods drawer, a prevention walk, a costs file, and a directory.

What it is not

It is not a pest control company. It employs no applicators, treats no houses, takes no bookings, and earns nothing from the treatments its pages describe. It publishes no reviews and no ratings, because it has verified none. It invents no history for itself and none for the businesses it lists.

How listings are compiled

Directory listings are compiled from public sources — published business names, phone numbers, addresses, hours, and services as the businesses themselves have made them public. Details change: businesses move, numbers change hands, hours drift. Every listing page says so, and the desk asks readers to confirm details with the business before hiring, and to check licensing with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as the licensing page explains. Inclusion is alphabetical and is not an endorsement; claiming a listing is free, and no placement is sold — that is the whole of the directory policy.

Corrections

Wrong phone number, closed business, a pest plate that misidentifies a look-alike — the desk would rather be corrected than consistent. Write to hello@pestfactor.com with the page and the correction. Operators correcting their own listings may use the claim page.
